Sunday sees the action of Round 16’s Betfred League One – and this includes the highly anticipated Cumbrian Derby!
Whitehaven meet Workington in their reverse fixture on Sunday, and as always, it’s expected to be an electric encounter.
At The Recreation Ground (now the Ortus Rec), Whitehaven are undefeated in their last three home meetings with their Cumbrian rivals, having won two and drawn one.
The sides last met on the Easter Weekend where Town pipped an intense 10-8 home victory over Haven.
Workington had ended an eight year wait for a derby day victory in a brutal affair against their nearest and dearest, with Jake Carter’s penalty the only difference between the two teams.
This game was played out in front of 2,310 spectators – will we see another bumper crowd for this one?
Then, can Goole Vikings continue their fine form?
The Vikings have found a new lease of life in recent weeks and have beaten Dewsbury, Midlands and Whitehaven respectively.
This weekend, they will face Keighley – a side they have already defeated in 2025. Will Goole achieve their first League One double?
Elsewhere, Newcastle are at home to Rochdale, and there’s an important game for Swinton and Dewsbury.
Swinton are still looking to keep tabs on table toppers North Wales, while a determined Dewsbury are pushing for a top four spot. The two points here are massive for either side.
The Rams' last home victory against their opponents was a 44-26 AB Sundecks 1895 Cup win back in June 2019. Will they finally taste home success against the Lions on Sunday?
